Can I allow access to my home by others?
If the client allows any other person access to their home during our contract, Pet Butler cannot be held liable for any damages to property or pets as a result of this. Please notify Pet Butler that guests will be in your home. Please also notify the person or persons having access to your home that a Pet Butler sitter is coming so that our entrance and presence will not surprise them. Pet Butler will also require a document agreeing that other people will be allowed in your home and Pet Butler will not be held responsible for situations that may arise when we are not in your home.
What should I know about animal behavior/unacceptable pets?
Animal behavior can be unpredictable. Pet Butler does not accept responsibility for animal behavior, normal or otherwise, which results in injury to the client’s animal. Further, if a Pet Butler pet care provider is harmed or injured by the client’s animal, the client accepts full responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by either the Pet Butler pet care provider or the animal. Pet Butler has the right to refuse animals that appear to be aggressive, ill or could cause harm to Pet Butler or others. We do not need to provide reasoning for refusing to work with you or your pet. Pet Butler does not care for any animals with a history of biting, fighting or attacking other animals or people. Pets must be well-mannered, socialized, non-destructive and a good fit for a home environment.
Do you clean-up after the pet (house and yard)?
Pet Butler will properly dispose of pet waste at each individual visit in your outside waste receptacle and will do our best to clean up any accidents your pet may have inside. Pet Butler is not responsible for any carpet/flooring stains by your pets. We do request that you provide plastic bags, trash bags, towels, paper towels and cleaning supplies and indicate where you would like the waste disposed. An 'excessive pet-mess' clean up fee of $5 may be applied for time consuming and labor intensive clean-ups. Pet Butler reserves the right to make this determination.
How about collars & leashes?
All dogs will be required to be on a leash with a collar and ID tag during outdoor walks while in our care.
Should I provide an emergency contact?
Pet Butler requests the name and phone number of a person living nearby who has access to your home. This should be a person close enough to walk to your home if roads should become impassable. If we are physically unable to drive to your home this information is needed so that we can contact this person to request their assistance. In the event the client does not provide a nearby emergency contact with access to your home for Pet Butler, Pet Butler will provide service but not until conditions allow us to reach your home safely.
Do you administer medications and vaccinations?
Pet Butler will attempt to administer medications as directed, but cannot be held responsible for any complications that may arise as a result. Excessively shy cats with medical problems can be a serious risk. If you have such an animal, this must be thoroughly discussed. Under no circumstances will Pet Butler service any pet that has any form of contagious illness. This is for the safety of our customers. Pet Butler requires that all pets have the necessary vaccinations and immunizations before service begins. If a Pet Butler pet care provider is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from a client’s pet which has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may be incurred.
What rules do you follow while visiting?
We try to avoid other dogs and people while walking your dog. Avoiding people has to do with your privacy, information and questions concerning your whereabouts. We also do not do any long walks when the temperature exceeds 90 degrees or in inclement weather.
What if I am returning home later than expected and need more “sits”?
Please contact our office as soon as possible. We will make the necessary arrangements and a $10 late booking fee will be added. It is the owner’s responsibility to contact Pet Butler within four hours of return. Payment of additional sits and fee will be due upon your return home.
Will you adjust my thermostat?
To ensure the comfort of your pet, please leave your thermostat setting within a normal comfortable range (68 to 78 degrees). If we enter a home and the thermostat is set below 60 degrees, we will raise the temperature in your home and notify you.
